Several months ago I was grocery shopping and spotted a woman in a beautiful colorful dress. I approached her and asked her where she got it and she said “I design them.” Voila..that’s how I discovered Mes Filles.
Local designer Cristen Kauffman designs and manufactures her Sadie dress right here in Los Angeles. Her goal with Mes Filles is to celebrate the uniqueness of each and every woman. I love the simple silhouette and the beautiful prints she uses. I’m wearing the Zippy in the above picture; it’s one of my most comfortable dresses I have in my closet. Brother Vellies was founded in 2013 by Aurora James, with the goal of keeping traditional African design practices, and techniques alive while also creating and sustaining artisanal jobs. Now handmade across the globe, Brother Vellies creates luxury accessories that celebrate cultural histories and timeless design. A couple of my favorite shoes from her line.
Beauty update! I wanted to give you an update on several new products that I started using and really like. I was looking for a new face wash and bought the Ursa Major set consisting of face balm, tonic, and face wash (all clean beauty products at a great price point). I just ordered Suntegrity Sunscreen, a friend recommended I try it she loves it! Will keep you posted.
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela
1 box of your favorite pasta (we used Banza chickpea pasta )
Directions: In a small pan over medium-low heat, add your pine nuts. Stir constantly to make sure that the heat is being distributed evenly. When the pine nuts turn a golden brown color, remove from the heat and transfer to a small bowl. Cook your pasta according to package directions. In a food processor or blender add 1/4 cup of your toasted pine nuts, the avocado, basil, garlic, kale, lemon juice, olive oil, nutritional yeast, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth. Add the water as needed to reach your desired pesto consistency. Toss your cooked and drained pasta in your avocado kale pesto. Top with the leftover toasted pine nuts. Enjoy!
There were so many things I loved about Normal People (Hulu), but one thing that stood out was the beautiful elegance and style Marianne (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones) portrayed throughout the whole series. Marianne’s sophisticated refined wardrobe complimented her beautiful hair and make-up. I’ve selected some similar pieces inspired by her wardrobe below.
