City Girl

I’ve got the LA to NYC weekend trip down to a science. I take the Thursday night red eye arriving in NYC in the morning. I pack my Ursa Major wipes and do a face cleanse in the taxi on the way into the city. I apply a little make-up and I’m ready for the day. I drop my luggage off at the hotel and hit the ground running. This itinerary allows me to have two full days and time for Sunday brunch before heading home and having dinner with my family in LA. We stayed at the Soho Grand this time around which I really liked. The location is great and there’s quite a scene at night if you’re into that.

Now onto fashion, here are somethings I noticed while strolling the streets of NYC. The Acne scarf is everywhere along with the Toteme scarf coat, platform Uggs, oversized leather jackets (like below also like this & this), camel overcoats, and the chocolate North Face Nuptse. I stopped into Catbird to get zapped for a permanent bracelet. I also went into Loeffler Randall to check out these raffia Maryjane’s and woven Leonie ballet flats. Lastly, it was Sezane to scope out the Sezane x Sea collection (saw this cute top) and the Polene boutique where I spotted this chic bag.

Food highlights – Lunch at Pastis (the chicken Paillard was so good along with the people watching), sushi at Bond St. (Blue Ribbon on Sullivan is still my fave), lox & bagel at Sadelle’s, slice of pizza at Upside in Nolita, and a Levain Bakery chocolate chip cookie.

Have a great week everyone!

Jessie’s Girl

Jessie Randall of Loeffler Randall was just in St. Barths and posted several pictures of some of her newly released styles. Case in point, the above Hadley Dune bow sandal she’s wearing with an Innika puff sleeve dress. She’s also modeling the Kirsten white eyelet top over a leopard swimsuit and accessorized with a beaded necklace (similar to below). Also worth checking out are these beautiful Leonie woven ballet flats (selling out fast), leather woven tote, and Joanna raffia braided slide. To check out all the new arrivals click here.

Last night we dined at Horses on Sunset. My daughter logged onto Rezy at midnight 30 days out to snag a reservation. I wasn’t sure what to expect as there is quite a bit of hype around this restaurant. It’s in the old Ye Coach & Horses location on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. A small, warm, and cozy space with an open kitchen in the back. We had a nice booth on the left side of the restaurant. The menu is elevated comfort food that’s not overly complicated which I find refreshing. We started with cocktails, vodka martini, cucumber dill margarita (a stand-out), and Lambrusco spritz all great. Our menu picks consisted of the bread and butter, endive Caesar salad (my favorite item on the menu), and smoked salmon lavash. Dinner was the Herman off menu pasta (named after their favorite contractor when they were building the restaurant), Butcher’s steak, and the cheeseburger. We finished off the meal with a Valrhona chocolate tart and lemon cheesecake. The service was excellent which I find makes such a difference with the whole entire experience. I would definitely go back!

What I wore – Zimmermann Wrap Dress // Stand Studio Jacket // Old Tabatha Simmons Boots (similar here).

Skirting the Issue

After scrolling through all the street style photos from NYFW one trend that stood out to me was the different variations of midi skirts being worn with high boots (also like these & these). I saw paneled leather midi skirts (also like this faux one from J. Crew last pic), denim skirts (2nd pic), and pleated leather skirts (look for less here). Charlotte Groeneveld is styling her Alturzura denim midi with a camel sweater and Khaite Mini Lotus tote. Perfection!

This picture of Lauren Santo Domingo walking the streets of Brooklyn reminded me of how much I love a flare pant. She’s wearing an A.W.A.K.E. Mode top, Proenza pant, and Row bag. I’m going to pull out my black knit pants I got last year (similar here & here) and wear them with an oversized white button-down, black leather jacket, and boots.
