If I can’t go on vacation, I can at least try and recreate it at home. That’s exactly what I did the other night. I made the chicken dish we learned how to make in our cooking class in Tuscany. We stayed at the most charming boutique hotel Poggio Piglia, and chef Salvatore Consoli lead us through a 3 course meal consisting of homemade Ravioli, Eggplant Parmesan, and Italian braised chicken.
It’s Friday and cocktail hour this evening will consist of a skinny margarita, salty bar snacks, and a game of backgammon by the pool. I have been playing backgammon since I was 7 years old. My great uncle taught me how to play on a trip to visit him in Brazil. Today I play on the beautiful wood set that he taught me on. If you don’t know how to play backgammon now’s the time to learn. Here’s a link to the rules of backgammon.
Above picture is “Backgammon By The Pool” by Slim Aarons. To see a full selection of Slim Arrons prints at Jonathan Adler click here. I love the way Slim Aarons was able to capture the style, elegance, glamour of his subjects in that era.
I needed a little Pink Me Up this weekend! I put on this colorful pink dress I got on vacation, sat by the pool, and sipped a margarita infused with rosemary (so good!). I got several DM’s about my dress so I posted it below, along with some other affordable staycation pieces I found on Etsy.
Mexican Style Hand Embroidered Mini Hot Pink Etsy, $45. More sizing here, maxi version here.
Mexican Colorful Embroidered Dress White Cotton Etsy, $44
Yesterday I spent some well needed time poolside to relax and unwind. I went outside, soaked up the sun, and sipped an Arnold Palmer. It was a nice way to conclude a week full of cooking, blogging, and a great chat with Professional Lifestyle Organizer Amy Suddleson. I’m excited to share what I learned from Amy with all of you next week.
Since the weather has warmed up in LA I was finally able to wear my Kule shirt dress (look for less here), and my Banjanan Flora dress (now on sale along with these two Juliet Dunn and Lemlem dresses). I realized my J. Crew swimsuits from last season could use an update, and I’m going to take advantage of J Crew’s 30% off sale. I recently replaced my straw hat in the above picture (never enough shade). While lounging poolside, I browsed & Other Stories and found a Jenni Kayne look for less cotton cardigan along with this white eyelet mini, chainlink pearl necklace, and organic cotton tank.
That’s a wrap for the week! Hope everyone has a great weekend. I’m getting lots of texts and DM’s about recipes you’ve been cooking from my blog. Don’t forget to tag me on Instagram @juleseebyjuliewoolenberg.
Comfy, casual, and loose fitting dresses are what constitutes the Stay at Home Dress. I’ve been cooking a ton, and I’m in out of the pool so I just throw on a loose fitting dress. Mine could use a bit of sprucing so below are some that I am considering.
Happy Friday everyone! I guess I’ve adjusted to this new way of life. I’ve been keeping busy cooking as you can tell from my blog posts and instagram posts. I made my first sourdough bread yesterday which was really fun! I finished Catch and Kill this week and I’m loving Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu. I’m continuing to take long walks in my neighborhood and loving my yoga classes at home. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
